Fathers Hand's

Through your hand's you've built and borne.
In many tasks they've been ripped and torn.
Without reward or recognition due.
Selfishness was never part of you.
Gentle yet firm and always strong.
You have carried the load for so long.
Your hand's a map of life lived right.
Someday I'll follow you into the light.
Thank you Dad for all you've done.
I'm grateful to be called your son.

  1. This is a most touching tribute to your father! He is proud of you, I am sure!
This is one of my favorite poetry forms...the quatrain. You should post this on the bulldog. It is very good as is, but there are a few bumps in the meter, and I am not such a good meter fixer as tom, leanne and kat on the bulldog.
One thing that I can suggest here is that your last line should read:
I am grateful to be called your son.....you are and always will be his son! ; )

    I enjoyed this much!

  3. Thank you so much for your kindness Vivian I will post it on Bull Dog. I did not relize I had followed a form but would love to learn about it. I plan on posting some pictures with this one of my Dad makeing a pen the other day, it inspired me to write this one.

I'm glad that you enjoy the peer photo I took it the last day of our trip to Florida last spring. It is the Okaloosa Island fishing peer, just south of Destin.

btw....KP is back up and running. I just posted a rictameter on there called Spring's Arrival. ( Serah ) I've noticed you got FEW GOOD REVIEWS ON THERE. opps, sorry bout the caps.

On the Bulldog, sometimes your poems will go with no comments for a while...the site is still new and people are still joining, so it is a bit quiet right now. But be sure to check back every few days or so to reply to any comments on your poems.
